The beach, as a place for everyone, can also be a place to practice Christian love by creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for people of all backgrounds. This might involve engaging in friendly conversations with people from different walks of life from around the world, and showing genuine interest in others, regardless of their beliefs or backgrounds. Freshwater Church on the island of Saint John is just that!

Freshwater Church St. John, USVI is a growing group of believers with hope in Jesus Christ. They gather to worship Him, encourage one another, and proclaim the Kingdom of God. All of creation bears testimony to God’s glory and Freshwater Church is privileged to meet on the beach for worship every Sunday morning at 10am at Hawksnest Beach under the pavilions there.

STAY FOR A DAY AT HAWKSNEST BEACH AFTER ATTENDING FRESHWATER CHURCH

The beach here is so beautiful. The breeze seems to consistently blow to control the intense heat. It is a popular swimming spot as well as snorkeling location. After the service that we attended here one Sunday they even did water baptisms right along side the beach goers. It was beautiful to watch as newly committed Christians were submerged and re-emerged through breaking the ocean surface as a NEWLY focused, determined Christian ready to grow in their faith. It was a contagious atmosphere of joy!

In Christianity, water baptism signifies a believer’s identification with the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. It’s a public declaration of faith and a symbolic act of joining the Christian community. Water baptism represents dying to the old self and rising to a new life in Christ. Can you think of a more beautiful place to perform this ritual than here at this beautiful tropical outdoor church service surrounded by so many warm, welcoming, loving participants.

My husband and I have been very fortunate to explore many interesting Caribbean/West Indie locations. We are drawn by the beauty of these paradise themed islands. What a better way to enjoy a day than relaxing on a white sand beach in the Virgin Islands after replenishing your soul at a wonderful outdoor beachfront church service with very lovely people from all around the globe collectively worshiping our Lord and Savior in concert!

We were welcomed graciously at Freshwater Church at Hawksnest Beach on our first Sunday visit and returned the following Sunday for more of the same treatment. You would be remiss to not enjoy this treat while staying on the island. Go! You will not be disappointed and you will meet lots of new friends to worship besides while visiting the island!

The adventure of traveling to Saint John is wonderous! What a blessing this place is to enjoy! Everywhere you look you will find God’s blessings in abundance. From the flowers blooming to the ocean waves lapping the shorelines, nature’s beauty abounds. So many beautiful views are there to be enjoyed around every curve of the winding roads! It is an amazing place to behold!
