TRAVELING FOR THE HOLIDAYS?

Traveling for the holidays? Perhaps this Christmas you might consider traveling! People travel at the holidays for a multitude of reasons. It’s a perfect time to travel when schools are closed and family schedules lineup for all to have time off at the same time easily. It can be a time for a romantic holiday themed getaway for two, or an easy way to celebrate holidays without having to decorate your home for the holiday season.

For some, the holidays are not a big joyous occasion as it may serve as a reminder of the loss of a loved one or other personal loss and can be a very depressing time of the year. Traveling over the holidays may serve as a way to avoid the stress and depression of remembering that loss.

I have 5 suggestions for where I’d travel over the holiday season! Perhaps you we will be able to travel too?

#1 HAWAII ~ TRAVELING FOR THE HOLIDAYS?

Mele Kalikimaka!! Christmas is so wonderful in Hawaii! There are so many outdoor activities too! Hawaii has many beautiful waterfalls! Hawaii also has so many amazing attractions, let’s be real! ADVENTURE AWAITS! The beaches, the SNORKELING SPOTS, the views, the SUNRISES & SUNSETS, the food, the fruits, the flowers, the coffee, etc. Perhaps going in search of holiday waterfalls would be a fun distraction!

Sometimes a couple just wants a holiday venue filled with romance! Circumstances might be such that a big family gathering for the holidays is not in the cards or the preferred choice. Nothing wrong with carving out some quality time with that special someone in your life instead and focus on building your relationship. Couples need to devote special time together to reinforce their foundation of a solid relationship frequently.

Or, perhaps with busy school schedules this is the only two weeks where everyone has a freed up schedule to be able to travel together. Whatever your circumstances… ENJOY a travel together!

#2 MOUNTAIN CHALET ESCAPE ~ TRAVELING FOR THE HOLIDAYS?

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! How about a mountain escape to ski and snowboard? How much fun would this be to have a destination Christmas in the mountains with ALL of your family in tow? Just open your door to jump on the snowboard to ride? Warm up around the fireplace in the living room after defrosting in the hot tub outside once you make your way back from your snow run!

This looks both romantic and mountain view beautiful! I can imagine a large family gathering to celebrate the holidays in this gorgeous home complete with a Christmas tree, lights, and roaring fire in the fireplace. Add to this scenario snow falling and softly playing Christmas music and voila! Instant perfect Christmas scene!

#3 ARUBA SNORKEL HOLIDAY ~ TRAVELING FOR THE HOLIDAYS?

Who wouldn’t love to explore snorkeling in Aruba for the holidays? What a great family activity to leave the cold and snow behind and soak up some much needed sunshine (after enduring the few months of low sunlight available in the Northern Regions) and play in the ocean!

Pack your snorkel gear and bathing suits and relax on the beaches here to catch some rays! What a great way to celebrate the holidays super low key! Rest and relaxation are the tasks of the day here in Aruba!

#4 BAJA CALIFORNIA PENINSULA ~ TRAVELING FOR THE HOLIDAYS?

¡Feliz Navidad! The Baja California Peninsula is a peninsula in Northwestern Mexico that would be perfect for a sport fishing adventure for the holidays for a family fishing adventure. The peninsula separates the Pacific Ocean from the Gulf of California. So, the peninsula extends from Tijuana, near the U.S. border, to Cabo San Lucas – approximately 747 miles, (1202 km). U.S. citizens must present a valid U.S. passport book or card, in addition to an entry permit (Forma Migratoria Multiple or FMM) issued by Instituto Nacional de Migración (INM).

My first instinct is that I want to drive from Tijuana the length of the Baja Peninsula to Cabo San Lucas! The best fishing charters that are the most affordable are located in the central section of the peninsula probably because it is the most difficult to get to, to be able to fish. I have read articles that claim that you should plan a full week to drive, as road conditions are rustic, from one end to the other with minimal time spent exploring on the drive. Many fly into the south region to fish or concentrate on the northern region in the San Quintin region for the best experience. I must admit to being fascinated by the idea of fishing in both, as well as the middle and driving between the locations to explore the culture and the land. The holiday break is definitely too short to do that, perhaps a restful month would be better! I wish I easily had a month to do this! SO, for the sake of a holiday break fishing trip, I guess it had better be to fly into Cabo San Lucas at an all inclusive and book a fishing charter for a day or two excursion!

#5 CRUISE THE CARIBBEAN ~ TRAVELING FOR THE HOLIDAYS?

Many people cruise for the holidays for various reasons! Recently, I observed an example of a grieving family. They had lost a loved one around Christmastime a few years past, and they found it too hard to celebrate Christmas in their “normal” traditional way at home. So, they decided to cruise over the holiday instead. Sometimes creating a new normal tradition or just a change of pace makes coping with the holidays easier.

Some people find cruising for the holidays an easy alternative to decorating their homes and preparing for the stress of the holiday season and all the entertaining of guests that coincides. It may just be easier to avoid all of this chaos and go on a cruise for the holiday!

Other people are just alone. Cruising over the holidays is a way to be around masses of people to celebrate the holidays with others. Cruise ships offer lots of group activities, so one does not necessarily feel alone here!

We’ve considered traveling for the holidays because it is a perfect vacation time for our family when everyone’s free time off aligns. It would make the perfect vacation time frame for many with school and work breaks being longer and synchronized.

People have many different reasons for traveling over the holidays, understandably! Perhaps next Christmas one of these suggestions may be a good match for you.
